Pulse

Pulse is a first-person game made by Team Pixel Pi. They have cleverly incorporated the concept of echolocation to hep you navigate the world making this game a very sensual experience. They have used sound to help create a visualisation of the world but what you see isn't necessarily what is actually there so you really have to rely and depend on your senses. This also offers both challenge and discovery throughout the game.

During the game there are both characters willing to help you and also vicious beings who you need to avoid, so you are in a constant state of concentration to listen out for what is around you. I think this is one of the beauties of this game, because your sense of awareness of the world around you is developed significantly.

This game is similar to one of my ideas that I have considered for a project which is to create a level in which you navigate through sound. I never really knew what to offer as visuals to accompany this idea and pulse has opened a door of opportunities.
